How can a question be a rant when the asker didn't have ranting in mind?

Absolutely. It is an easy mistake to make. Intent is not the issue; result is. I don't personally like the word 'rant'; I prefer 'soapboxing'. When a person gets on their soapbox and tries to convince the users of their OWN viewpoint -- that is a violation. How can a question be a rant when the asker didn't have ranting in mind?
The point of this forum is to ask questions, no to espouse a point of view. If you were really asking a question there would have been no violation. How can a question be a rant when the asker didn't have ranting in mind?
