Some examples:
Complaining about the president. So why not write a letter or sign a petition to try to get him impeached than send than set it to congress?
Complaining about gas prices. So drive less, odds are most of the people complaing about gas prices are the ones who will drive to the end of the block or let their car warm up for 20 minutes before driving it in the winter.
People have a voice and can make a difference. Why do they choose to just sit back and do nothing but rant?Why do people like to rant so much?
We the people all need to Rant and Rave about something. I think it's a part of our DNA. It's alot easier to complain about something then to actually get something done about it.Why do people like to rant so much?
People rant because they feel powerless in spite of what else they do. Driving less is a great idea but doesn't change the fact that gas companies are making record profits while we pay more every day. Many of us write petitions, write to our legislators , go to protests, talk to other concerned people about what to do and work on all sorts of things. But it takes more than that to change things. So people get frustrated that despite their best efforts nothing changes. We'll keep doing all we can but sometimes you just have to vent!
Most of the ranters are people who don't know enough about the big picture and just see a flash of inteligence indicating that they know it all. No one down south thinks of us in the north.
Gas prices too high? Do you have a choice in lowering your costs? Not us in the north. Our town is 70 km from the next , no taxis, no bus service, no doctor, no clothing store, We pay 25 to 30 cents more than Toronto per liter.Another 150 km north they pay 2.00 to $2.50 /liter. Anyone willing to biatch to help them lower their costs? Didn't think so. Arm chair activists. Ranters are like mosquitoes. When they bite , all you can do is swat them. Sometimes it gets the odd one off his duff and do something constructive.
