I'm gonna be going camping over the summer, and it's vital that I have my phone available if an emergency arises whether at the camp site, or at home with my son.
I've been looking up some different emergency phone charging products, but I have no idea whether these will be compatible with my phone.
SO.. anyone have any suggestions?How can I charge my Samsung Rant SPH-M540 while camping with no access to outlet/car/computer?
Keep the phone off until you have an emergency. Chances are you wont have reception anyway so you`re phone is going to drian its battery searching for a signal. If there`s a real emergency at home (not: oh we`re outta TP or do you know where...is) they`re reach you one way or another. Leave your itinerary at home and with a neighbor, with directions where you are the places you`ll be at etc so they can find you. If you`re doing some real camping or even if your located behind mtns or in a valley you generally wont have cell reception. Some small towns dont even have cell reception, if you`re a good ways from any city you`ll generally lose reception. Cell phones really are a false sense of security bc they are unreliable.
Otherwise you`ll have to get a solar charger and hope its sunny. Just google solar chargers and see what you get. Obviously you get what you pay for so a really cheap charger will take forever to charge it whereas a really good solar charger will do it in a decent amount of time.How can I charge my Samsung Rant SPH-M540 while camping with no access to outlet/car/computer?
Im with beach bum. I just spent a week backpacking an only turned my phone on for a few minutes each night just to check my text messages from my wife. The battery lasted the full seven days.
the solar panel idea is great as well. You could still charge the phone in the event of a natural disaster.
at cabalas or bass pro you can get a 5 watt solar charger that will charge your phone.
Keep your phone off until you need it and you might be able to get some kind of solar charger but I dont know.

I am going to get a new phone but cannot figure out which one to get. I am going to have internet, tv and the works available to me, so I want one that has decent internet speed. Ok! to start off the Rant and the Centro are different! The centro is more like a PDA, So incase you want to put appt. in there and sync it to your computer and edit attachments and stuff like that, then the Centro would be an excellent phone. compared tot he rant, they are about the same speed. The rant however, offers you the full keybad that is a little bit easier to text with if you are a big texter. And the rant is also alot newer than the Centro. However, the centro also has the touch screen part and it is a great phone! Me personally, I would go for the Centro, I find it nicer, and I can get more out of it. But you, actually have to see them both and find out which one you could get more out of. So I recommend that you stop by at your Local Best Buy, yes ma'am, Best Buy, and ask them to demo their phones to you. From there, you can make your decision. OH and FYI, compared to sprint, our phones are ALOT cheaper with no mail in rebate! Rant should be $49.00 and the Centro is $19.00, so dont overpay!

Plug the USB cable onto the laptop and plug the other side onto your phone, wait for the thing to download and recognize the new driver, and a pop up will automatically pop up and click to open a folder then download the songs you want and drag them into the music folder and unplugg and you're ready to go!

I don't have that phone but you should be able to put your SD card in, go to the music section on your phone %26amp; look for something that will import your song, which will probably save it in your Music section. Anyone want to rant bout the new Cirque Du Freak movie compared to the book?
I think the trailer looks pretty suckish compared to the 12 book series by darren shan, (which are like my all time favorite books) I read the books this summer and have wanting a movie to come out ever since. Now I am pretty bummed out. ):Anyone want to rant bout the new Cirque Du Freak movie compared to the book?
Me and my little sister are reading these books now. I'm on the sixth one right now and I love them. The movie trailer surprised me because it looks like they've taken a more humourous approach to the series. The books are darker and more serious, despite being a children's series. To be honest, when I found out that the movie was being Americanised and had an American cast, I knew it wouldn't be the same as the books. The American book and movie industry likes to dumb everything down for children and sanitise everything.
The trailer did disappoint me a little, but I got over it. When I see movie adaptations of things I love, I try not to compare them to the books as I know I'll only be disappointed. I guess I can deal with a different take on the series, though I'd prefer it was still a little dark. The Dark Knight was a completely different take on the Batverse, but everyone loves that movie. Though I suppose this is different because from dark to comedy is a serious turn. I'm still looking forward to the movie; for a movie adaptation that has been completely changed, it still looks like a good movie. I've also heard that the movie actually is darker than the trailers let on, so I'll have to watch it to find out myself.
The only thing that really annoys me is Rebecca, who I hear is some sort of monkey girl or something. It seems like she has replaced Debbie, and I don't understand why this was done. What's worse is that I also heard that they were planning on putting Debbie in a later movie due to the complaints, which I think would make it worse given that Debbie isn't a part of the story in later books. Then again, that could be all wrong, and I hope it is.Anyone want to rant bout the new Cirque Du Freak movie compared to the book?

To be honest, when I found out that the movie was being Americanised and had an American cast, I knew it wouldn't be the same as the books. The American book and movie industry likes to dumb everything down for children and sanitise everything.
The trailer did disappoint me a little, but I got over it. When I see movie adaptations of things I love, I try not to compare them to the books as I know I'll only be disappointed. I guess I can deal with a different take on the series, though I'd prefer it was still a little dark. The Dark Knight was a completely different take on the Batverse, but everyone loves that movie. Though I suppose this is different because from dark to comedy is a serious turn. I'm still looking forward to the movie; for a movie adaptation that has been completely changed, it still looks like a good movie. I've also heard that the movie actually is darker than the trailers let on, so I'll have to watch it to find out myself.
The only thing that really annoys me is Rebecca, who I hear is some sort of monkey girl or something. It seems like she has replaced Debbie, and I don't understand why this was done. What's worse is that I also heard that they were planning on putting Debbie in a later movie due to the complaints, which I think would make it worse given that Debbie isn't a part of the story in later books. Then again, that could be all wrong, and I hope it is.Anyone want to rant bout the new Cirque Du Freak movie compared to the book?

Turn the phone so that you can see the Samsung logo right side up on the battery. Under the bottom left side of the battery you will see the words ';micro SD'; pretty much ';carved'; into the phone. Right under that is a small cut in the phone. That is where your memory card will go in. Where is the memory card slot on the Samsung Rant?

I was considering the rumor from sprint but i was on their website tonight and i saw the rant. It looks like a more sturdy phone and has better quality pictures. I think i might change my mind. I have read a lot of reviews about it(well at least as many as there are seeing that it's a new phone) and all of them have been good. I ordered it yesterday and it is supposed to arrive soon. I am very excited about it. This has been referred to as the ';Deluxe Rumor';. Everything about it is just a little better than the rumor. There's a 2 mp camera instead of the rumor's 1.3 mp. Then there's the sprint music store and tv. This is also supposed to be a lot sturdier than the rumor. I have had many friends that have gone through several rumors in a matter of months. The bottom slide completely detached itself from theirs. The rant is supposed to have a much better and sturdier slider. One last thing is that the rant has sprint's new one touch user interface. That is supposedly much better than the current sprint menu setup. I have only heard good reviews about it. If you want more info, I suggest that you do a little more research (but I have done hours of research to make sure that I don't make a wrong decision) and that is pretty much all that I found in a nutshell. I was going to get the LG Rumor a month ago but than I decided to wait when I heard that Samsung was coming out with their own version. I think it's a tad heavy, but it does feel sturdy. My last Samsung phone was another multimedia phone and it lasted 3 years so this is a nice replacement. The battery life also seems to be pretty good, yesterday with pretty heavy internet and video use the battery only dropped one bar. The picture quality is good, on my last phone the pictures were always blurry so I never used it much but I think I will be using this feature more often on the Rant. If your looking for a great all around phone without the huge price tag, I think this is it!
cnet always has the best reviews for phones, imo. i'd check there, they're really unbiased and they cover a bunch of stuff that doesn't even matter to most people, so if you have any obscure questions they'd probably be answered in the review.

I agree completely, we (as we are the only ones here that would ever admit to leaving children in hospital, and even though it was years ago for me and weeks for you, the question can only have been about us) were personally attacked again the other night for leaving our children in hospital, when I faught back I was accused of being up myself and living in a bubble.

I even stated quite clearly I understand both sides of the debate, however I choose the side that looks at reality (peanuts are everywhere and banning them in only one place is pointless). You cannot protect your kids all the time, but you can teach your kids to take the proper precautions to keep themselves safe.
Either way I think it's childish to take cheap shots at a person's character (someone you don't even personally know) just because they do not see eye to eye with you.
It is kind of interesting that this kind of thing continues to happen. I belong to some reading and theory groups. We meet and talk about different concepts and such. If some one in the group disagrees with the rest, we listen and talk it through because there are times when someones idea or theory is actually better than the majority. It pays to listen and learn from everyone.
There are times when we converse that the person with the disagreement just doesn't understand where the rest of us are coming from so it still pays to talk through stuff.
I think the ranters and ravers are mostly young and uneducated and single minded. I don't think they are necessarily dumb or anything like that. I think they just haven't learned yet to listen to others. You can learn something from everyone you meet.

I agree completely, we (as we are the only ones here that would ever admit to leaving children in hospital, and even though it was years ago for me and weeks for you, the question can only have been about us) were personally attacked again the other night for leaving our children in hospital, when I faught back I was accused of being up myself and living in a bubble.
If somebody has nothing better to do than fight with you through a screen I feel for them, I really do.
However, the peanut ban, it's not a big deal really, just make the children wait until after school for their peanut hit. I even stated quite clearly I understand both sides of the debate, however I choose the side that looks at reality (peanuts are everywhere and banning them in only one place is pointless). You cannot protect your kids all the time, but you can teach your kids to take the proper precautions to keep themselves safe.
Either way I think it's childish to take cheap shots at a person's character (someone you don't even personally know) just because they do not see eye to eye with you.
It is kind of interesting that this kind of thing continues to happen. I belong to some reading and theory groups. We meet and talk about different concepts and such. If some one in the group disagrees with the rest, we listen and talk it through because there are times when someones idea or theory is actually better than the majority. It pays to listen and learn from everyone.
There are times when we converse that the person with the disagreement just doesn't understand where the rest of us are coming from so it still pays to talk through stuff.
I think the ranters and ravers are mostly young and uneducated and single minded. I don't think they are necessarily dumb or anything like that. I think they just haven't learned yet to listen to others. You can learn something from everyone you meet.

They primarily care about advertising revenue.
They do not really care about left vs right. They pick their target demographic and ';sell'; news to them so that they can sell advertising.

Fox news feels that the media is overwhemingly slanted to the left (liberal), so they offer a converse to that: conservative views and opinions. They DO report from a liberal angle at times (fair and balanced), but their owner (Rupert Murdoch) and their staff are decidedly conservative. I suggest you watch all news programs, MSNBC, CNN, and Fox to get the entire picture.

Well, Fox News IS fair and balanced- and I think this gets you angry because CNN and other networks attack the president and anyone who supports him.

All news networks are businesses.
They primarily care about advertising revenue.
They do not really care about left vs right. They pick their target demographic and ';sell'; news to them so that they can sell advertising.
In this respect, differing news agencies have different advertisers. The journalists have no editorial control.
They just read what is put in front of them.
Our job as news consumers is to try to sift through a variety of sources, not just taking one point of view as gospel, in order to form our own opinions of what is actually fair and balanced.How can a news network that airs talk shows where cons. rant about liberals for an hour, be fair and balanced?
The hard news portion of FOX network is in the crawl.
It frequently has a totally different take on the real news even as the pundits have their say. It can be quite amusing, try it sometimes as the talking heads tell us how well the war is going and the crawl lists the dead and the new attacks.
Look at CNN (which actually stands for Clinton News Network). There is so much friggin opinion there, it dwarfs the small amount Fox puts out. Plus, with Fox you get the whole story.
You've got tax funded NPR, PBS, and the ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, and the NY times. So may I pass you some government cheese to go with your Whine.
You obviously don't know what you're talking about. Alan Colmes, the third one on your list is actually quite liberal and a Democrat. I don't see a show on CNN or any of the liberal ';news'; networks like Hannity %26amp; Colmes where you have strong arguments from both sides.
What about all the trash in the NYT and on CNN and MSNBC etc. The media slants are plain and simple. Naturally the liberals ignore the abuses of their friends and attempt to make the conservatives look bad. How can CNN consider wasting time filming Kennedy using a photo op with children to push for SHIP program approval. The dummycrats have stooped to new lows in trying to use Children to get media attention. The lack of leadership in Congress is ignored by CNN and the liberals and why they highlight Bush's approval rating they ignore their 11% rating. What a joke most of the media is becoming.
The ';fair and balanced'; news laws are really strange and don't apply to certain things like news networks. Mostly it's to govern advertising time to make sure networks aren't refusing to sell time or giving free time to any candidate. I wish people would look up the word ';liberal'; and not just use it to describe socialists.

Obviously you have never watched Fox news. All that is ever on that network is both conservatives and liberals debating 24/7 unlike all of the other networks where it is liberals spouting biased opinions and outright lies 24/7.
I wish it was the way you described it, conservative opinion only. Frankly I'm sick of hearing the liberal view point on every issue on Fox. Libs have way too much media as it is.

I'm going to give you an answer without giving an opinion on which I think is best. Fox news feels that the media is overwhemingly slanted to the left (liberal), so they offer a converse to that: conservative views and opinions. They DO report from a liberal angle at times (fair and balanced), but their owner (Rupert Murdoch) and their staff are decidedly conservative. I suggest you watch all news programs, MSNBC, CNN, and Fox to get the entire picture.

Another point. I have a Hindu friend at work. While I do not believe in his faith, I have asked him a number of questions about it.
